Theatre Art Galleries (TAG) of High Point, NC announces the opening of a new summer exhibition. An Opening Reception will be held the evening of Thursday, May 30th, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Owens Daniels: More Than a Picture will be featured in the Main Gallery. Owens is a freelance photographer specializing in portraiture, commercial and special event photography. He states, “I use photography as a means to communicate and express my interpretation of the world around me, for as an artist I want my work to be a voice that can be free to speak to the issues of my day reflecting upon their impact and influence on our culture and communities. My choice of subject matter (People) comes from a place of intuition and is fueled by an impetuous desire to partake in the stories of interesting people and how their lives have unfolded for photographs have the power to evoke memories and suggest a sense of place & time”.

Christopher Thomas: After the Gold Rush will be featured in the Upstairs Gallery. Christopher Thomas is an artist from Climax, North Carolina and currently serves as the Studio Foundations Coordinator in the School of Art at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His photographs catalyze ideas related to facture, color, and recall in works on paper that emphasize data corruption and memory. An ornate container of flowers or a sacred still life are physically constructed of small bits of color. The abstract made objective in the form of bitmapped imagery facilitating a procedurally complex application of color by hand. Mediated, serial and repetitive variations arise according to each work’s distinct attitude.

The Hallway Gallery will host TAG Teaches: Spotlighting the Art Work by TAG’S Students.

The Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery is hosting the Annual TAG High School Art Exhibit with art work from the students of many of our Guilford County high schools.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12:00-5:00 p.m.
