About High Point
High Point was named for being the highest point on the North Carolina Railroad between Goldsboro and Charlotte. Our founders foresaw that the city’s central location in the state would appeal to industry and commerce, and we take that heritage seriously to this day.
We host a wide variety of events that draw visitors from near and far, including those that venture from 110 countries twice a year for the High Point Market, the world’s largest Wholesale Home Furnishings show. As our guest, you can explore our rich history, scenic parks, sports and cultural events and diverse shopping excursions—especially if you’re searching for the perfect furniture piece. Home to more than 50 retail furniture stores and outlets, a variety of manufacturers and limitless styles, you’re sure to find the ideal item for your home.
Are you an adventure-seeker? Enjoy the Kersey Valley Zip Line. Does history strike your fancy? Visit our civil-war plantation or our historic train depot, nestled in the center of downtown High Point. Do you desire more of the outdoors? Traverse our hiking trails at Piedmont Environmental Center. And don’t forget to fill your evenings with one of our downtown art galleries, a theatre performance, a lakeside concert, a festival at the park or a local brewery or wine bar.
