High Point, North Carolina, April 17, 2008 -- For some, timba is more than a style of music, it reflects a state of being. Trained in the conservatories of Havana, forged in the distinctly American experience of Miami's Cuban community, the seven highly skilled musicians of Tiempo Libre have exploded onto the world music scene. Creating a fiery, joyful mix of high-voltage Latin jazz and the seductive rhythms of traditional Cubano Son, this red-hot, high-energy band has dazzled audiences from Thailand to Boston as their first two albums have been honored with Grammy Award nominations. Now, on Friday, May 9, Triad audiences can thrill to the dance-inducing timba sounds of these dynamic virtuosos as they bring their innovative Cuban salsa to the High Point Theatre for one night only.

Concert attendees are invited to add extra heat to their night and join us before the performance for complimentary salsa lessons led by six-time Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mallory Graham! Lessons will be available from 7:00 to 7:45 pm.
